Enlargement of the prostate is also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia. All mens prostate’s will grow to some degree with ageing, however some grow faster or in such a way that it will increase the degree of bladder obstruction.

BPH causes urinary symptoms in >50% men over 60 years of age. Prostate enlargement isn’t dangerous, but it can cause bothersome symptoms such as urinary frequency, poor flow, dribbling and waking up in the night to pass urine.

You will be assessed by your Urological Surgeon with a history, digital rectal examination, flow rate and bladder scan.
